I have a pretty typical story—until it wasn’t.
I’m a 50+ executive who did the whole working-mom thing. I got things done. I built a career around being capable, reliable, resilient and not perfect for sure, but pretty damn good at what I do.
And then, on a Friday afternoon at 1:33 p.m., to be exact, and the day before a much-needed, carefully planned family trip, a Zoom invite popped onto my calendar.
I took the call.
And just like that, as Carrie would say, I was let go.

In the hours and days
that followed,
I did what many reasonable, grown women do: I became my own crisis PR team. Publicly: composed. Privately: dazed and confused. Therapy golf in between.
And then, late at night (because of course it was late at night), I started hunting for something that felt like a lifeline. Not the generic advice. Not the hustle speeches. Not the “reinvent yourself in 30 days” energy. I wanted the real talk. The kind that says: you can be good and still get blindsided. You can do everything “right” and still get cut. It’s not personal… and it’s also deeply personal.
That’s when I found All the Cool Girls Get Fired. It felt like finally finding the words I didn’t know I was looking for. I remember thinking: Yessss—someone is saying the quiet part out loud.
The Swan Chapter grew from that
exact moment
A space for women 50+ in a career reset. Where we trade the spiral for clarity, the shock for options, and the “what now?” for smart, steady next steps, with clarity, confidence, and grace.
And just to be clear, your career reset doesn’t need a dramatic Zoom call to count. Sometimes the plot twist is smaller: the Sunday scaries that don’t go away, the “promotion” that feels like a trap, the meeting where you hear yourself agree to something you no longer believe in or want. If you’re rethinking your next chapter, you’re in the right place.
That’s why I’m building two “Start Here” paths because not every career reset comes with a Zoom plot twist.
